Travel to this part of Myanmar and you will discover beautiful Kayah hill scenery and a large number of distinctive tribal cultures, the most internationally famous of which are the Kayan, whose ‘long-necked’ womenfolk have a tradition of sporting coils around their necks. Sometimes called Padaung (although this is a Shan word and considered pejorative by the Kayan people), their ‘long-neck’ tradition is in fact gradually dying out; geneally, only older women in ome rural reas wear the rings (more info further down the page under ‘Tribal villages and Kyet cave’).
Our professional tour guide pick up at your hotel and transfer to Yangon airport for flight to Loikaw, that is capital of Kayah state. Arrived Loikaw and transfer to your hotel at check in. Starting sightseeing visit the enjoy your time exploring Loikaw and the surrounding area.
In the evening sunset, head into downtown Loikaw to visit the Taung Kwe Pagoda. Their local people call origin of the town’s name (Loikaw is Shan for “Island of mountains”). Return back to your hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Breakfast at hotel. Morning drive to Panpet village at Demawso ( about 1:30hr drive). And arrived there after starting visit the Demawso market, ( only open Mon, Wed & Sat ). Proceed to trekking the Panpat village, where you can see the long neck ladies of kayan tribe. Most of the stay of Panpet village are of the Padaung Tribe. The Padaung ladies are mostly wear their traditional costume and they wear many golden rings at their neck, you can still be seen wearing these heavy accessories. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon drive back to Loikaw and on the way stop the photo shoot at Ngwe Taung Dam. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at hotel.
Breakfast at hotel. Morning transfer to loikaw airport for flight to Yangon. Arrived yangon and transfer to your hotel . End of loikaw sightseeing tour.
