The tour offers a fascinating and unforgettable experience where you can climb Khaw Nau Sone, stay overnight in a remote Chin village and meet some of the 120villagers who live there. Visitors can join in with Sor Long’s traditional way of life by sitting down to a local meal with the villagers and enjoying traditional Chin dances and musical performances. The villagers are also very interested to hear about your countries, your lives and your stories. The tour includes a trek through surrounding villages which presents unique Chin cultures, customs and village life.
Mother Earth mountain, also known as Mount Victoria a term left over from colonial days, is now better known in Myanmar as “Nat Ma Taung” or in Chin language as “KhawNauSone”. Khaw Nau Sone mountain is one of the highest peaks of South east Asia and is the highest mountain in Chin State (10,500feet). The dramatic scenery coupled with a bundant bird life provides the perfect holiday location for those who appreciate the natural environment and enjoy eco adventures. For those tourists who like to meet the locals, then the Khaw Nau Sone villages and townships of Kanpetlet, Mindut and Matupi offer a unique insight into Chin life.
You will depart from Bagan earily morning, there will be four hour drive among the forested mountain and can take photos of the nature, through beautiful land scapes dotted with traditional bamboo huts, gold stupas and oxcarts on the road. On arrival you will be shown to your comfortable accommodation where you can relax after the drive. Accommodation provide dissimple and clean. Our modesten suite, twin bedrooms come with comfortable mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets and bathroom attach. We do not have electricity during night time but solar powered lighting is available.
After you will join the lunch, for traditional Chin food at the Community Lodge.
The afternoon offers time to meet the friendly Sor Long villagers who will guide you around their village observing of Chin Nature and Culture, Panoramic view and feeling to nature sense. They will proudly showcase some of their local customs and talk about the famous Chin facial tattoos. The village musicians will treat you to a musical rendition of a bamboo flute, played through the nose.
For dinner .you will join the community, for traditional Chin food at the community lodge. Overnight at Sor Long Community Lodge.
Mt Khaw – Nau –Sone is part of the Chin mountain range with a height of l0500feet above sea level and one of the highest peaks of South east Asia. Mt Khaw Nau Sone (NatMaTaung I Mount Victoria) is a protected area,in Khaw Nau Sone National Park which was established in 1994. It’s area is 279square miles. The park is an association of ASEAN Heritage Park and includes an important birding area.The park offers virgin forest, wild orchids and colourful butterflies.
We start the day with a traditional Chin style breakfast at the community lodge. After breakfast we drive to base camp about 17kilometres away from the community lodge. At base camp we prepare for a trekking adventure up Khaw Nau Sone. This walk will take approximately four hours. A packed lunch will be taken at the top of the mountain, where you can enjoy the fresh air with a 360degree view of the Chin hills.
Return to base camp for a scenic drive back to Kanpletet. Where we will visit Two or Three Chin ethnic tribes if time permits. Here you will encounter Nga, Muun, Daa LUppu and Yin Do women with different facial tattoo patterns. You can see the tattooed face woman who play flute by her nose. After meet with your car and return back Community Lodge.
For dinner, you will join the community, for traditional Chin food and Chin Khaung (Traditional Beer) at the community lodge. After dinner the villagers will entertain you with their Cultural dancing.
Overnight at Sor Long Community Lodge.
Start the day with a traditional Chin style breakfast at the community lodge. After breakfast, packed lunch box and proceed to Mindut. About 2hours driven from kanpetlet arrive Shame village, cease the car and start trek to Kyardoe village (45minutes trek) where you can observe the culture and tradition of the Chin hill tribes. Their way of life is very different to the Burmans from the time they are born to their death.
In this village,they sacrifice animals such as bulls, pigs and mitigation for spiritual reasons.
Every household in the village is decorated with the skull of bulls, goats and wild animals they got from the forest. To the villages, there is a sense of pride to
Decorate their houses with these skulls because its hows their power, wealth and prestige. They record how many animals they sacrificed by decorating a large wood spike with different carving for different meanings.
Visit to Lote Bell village, Pukwan village and walk down to a string bridge built across Make creek for one and half hours trek. Crossing Make creek you can meet with your car again and then drive back to Mindat (45minutesbycar).

Mindat Township is situated 4860feet above the sea level. It is a mountainous region and has a bundant rainfalls and natural forests. Due to its cold climate, the view of Mindat can be enjoyed under misty blue sky. Local communities still wear traditional clothing and carry Chin beckets and knives. Many women adorn themselves with their beautiful hand made necklaces and large traditional earrings.
A breakfast and start to sightseeing Mindut and environs. Explore the Chin traditional and culture. Visit to the hill tribe’s villages suchas “NupHtai”village, Pan Au village, Visit to rare seen beautiful chin women with their amber beads and lilting songs, playing the nose flute and Chin Museum.
Observe their traditional and their ways of life. Evening watching sunset@waibutaung monastery (if weather permit). Lunch and Dinner at local restaurant, Overnight at Hotel in Mindut.
Early morning visit the small market of the town. After breakfast leave from Mindat to Bagan.
